House Watch Inc. began as a neighborhood watch patrol when a private community experienced a large number of burglaries in 1980. The community's Homeowners Association hired a group of off-duty police officers to patrol their community.
Within a short period of time the criminals were apprehended, and the Homeowners Association was so impressed with the swiftness and professionalism of the watch patrol staff that they continued with the neighborhood watch patrol. The neighborhood watch patrol continues to this day.
In 1982, the original watch patrol became incorporated under the name of House Watch Inc. We also became licensed as a New York State Watch Guard and Patrol. The original off-duty officers from the neighborhood watch soon joined the House Watch Inc. team, catering to community businesses.
In 1992, House Watch Inc. participated with the New York State Department of Licensing and the New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services for the implementation of the Security Guard Act. According to the Act, all security guards have to be trained and licensed to do security.
House Watch Inc. presented lesson plans to New York State for training security guards; the lessons were accepted and put into immediate effect. Soon after, our company became an approved unarmed watch guard/patrol training school, and the rest is history.
